Jewish life, over the ages has undergone tremendous changes. In 1933 when the Nazis gained power in Germany, every European country had a Jewish population. The Jewish life in the 21 countries under German occupation during World War II had a population of about 9 million. But, when the war ended, only one out of three Jews survived.
